Pseudo-Amazonic

This scene, from the movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, besides being cool in itself, is probably also the closest scene in setup and concept to an Amazonic duel that I've run across. The whole Chinese mystique is different, obviously, and their fighting style (or perhaps I should say the filming and editing style) rather different than what I would envision for the Amazoni, which is only to be expected. However, two women going at it hammer and tongs in a flat enclosed space with a rack of weapons to choose from is still a rather similar concept.

Interesting that I've never seen the film, nor had I stumbled across this clip until just yesterday.

Elana could have lifted that big battle-axe no problem, though. ;-)

You might want to see the fight scenes from the follow-up movie to Crouching Tiger - Hero. Even women ooh and aah over those because of the dance-like, artistic quality. There's a particularly beautiful one of two women warriors fighting among swirling maple leaves (one of the same actresses from the scene you posted).

Hope you are doing well!
